Shea Moisture: Manuka Honey & Yogurt Line

Hey Y’all,

My goal aside from healthy hair is to also curate the perfect regimen for my thick and curly mane. One that adds to and maintains the moisture balance in my otherwise dry hair, while also promoting hair growth and length retention. Everything so far is so good! I have managed to fall even more in love with my natural curl pattern, more than I ever thought I would and these products are part of the reason why!

Q&A: Transitioning Hair

Why did you get a relaxer? My hair is the thickest I’ve ever seen it, but my mom says that it was like this when I was younger. When I asked her why she decided to relax my hair in the first place, she says it was because it was “too thick”. Fortunately, I have always had a positive experience with relaxers, so I have a benevolent view of them; by relaxing my hair it made it easier for both my mom and I to comb my hair. Ultimately, my mom did it to help preserve the quality of my hair until I was ready to take on the full responsibility for myself.

PR: L’Oreal EverCurl Sulfate-Free System

The story goes: Target had one of their red-tag specials, buy three and get a $5 Target card (basically BOGO) on the L’Oreal EverCurl Sulfate-Free Shampoo/Conditioner ($5.99). I hadn’t heard much on the L’Oreal systems and couldn’t find too many reviews on YouTube or other hair blogs, so had I no expectations for this results of this product.

Jessie James Decker x Fave 4

bless-your-body

Jessie James Decker (JJD) is a woman of many trades, and there are many aspects of her life and character I admire. I have been a fan of her’s since 2008 when I heard her single “Blue Jeans” from her self-titled debut album, Jessie (maiden name) James in both “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “Sorority Wars”. Since then, she has continued her pursuit and production of her own original music; gone on to marry, start a family, and creatively direct the production of her own hair, lip kit, and clothing lines. Finally, she has collaborated with the ladies of Fave 4 (hair care) to produce her own body care line, a.k.a Bless Your Body (BYB) ($24).

FOUNDation (1): MAC Studio Fix Powder

Hey y’all,

I’ve decided to initiate a new series here on the blog, this series will be comprised of foundation tests where I swatch all types of “foundations” from BB/CC creams to tinted moisturizers to full-fledged foundations. I will cross the spectrum of sheer, medium,  and full coverage; powders, creams, and liquids; high-end and drug store quality, all for your viewing pleasure. The purpose of this series is to showcase the foundations’ color profiles, texture, and wear in combination with my skin’s complexion and chemistry. Hopefully, the posts consistent with this series will help y’all identify if these are some things you wish to spend your money on, whether it be for the formula, wear, cost, or color range availability. I hope y’all enjoy!
